Forgot to pen this into my blog entry...

We have finally chosen our Justice of Peace to preside during our solemnisation ceremony - Mr Chan Kai Yau!

Actually, we didn't have any idea as to selecting the right JP for our ceremony, as there was a long list to choose from the ROM Website. As usual, we decided to source for information online via the Singaporebrides website for good JP recommendations.

From the website, I found that Mr Chan's name had been mentioned numerous times in the 'good JP recommendations' threads. We were unclear on why he was so popular as JP for many couples, as he didn't sound extraodinary during my teleconversation with him. In fact, he spoke with a deep, firm tone and merely asked for my wedding ad and timing though I thought I was conversing with him in a visibly friendly tone.

I have pulled out an extract on the recommendation made by a fellow Singaporebride Gerlaine on Mr Chan as a good JP below:

Yeap he is quite serious actually but do carry a sense of humour in his speech...friends and parents were impressed. And most importantly, i feel Chinese vows are more meaningful too! Me and my hubby nearly teared during the vows. So can really consider.

Mr Chan is one of the few JPs who bother to meet up with couples to sign the agreement letter and to talk to couples about marriage and all. Me and hubby felt very appreciative of a nice gesture like this.

Of course, there were also some negative comments by other Singaporebrides about Mr Chan being forgetful and for being unavailable to preside their ROM though they have made earlier reservations. Nonetheless, I am still putting my bet on Mr Chan's professionalism, and hoping that he will create a memorable occasion during our ceremony. Furthermore, I have colleagues and JC classmates who also engaged Mr Chan as their JP, and commented that he was wonderful! ~
