Hiaz,

I wanted to prepare a hand-made present for Wei Siang as a surprise gift during our wedding day, but cannot be helped la, I can't keep surprises under cover. Furthermore, we have been spending most of our time with each other hence it's difficult for him not to know that I have been buying the handicraft items and frame from Spotlight for the scrapbooking project.

It was difficult for me to start off with scrapbooking; afterall it was my first attempt at it. To gather some inspirations for my project, I decided to check out a scrapbooking store at Plaza Singapura (can't remember the name of the store); and I was pleasantly surprised with a lot of masterpieces displayed at the store! There were 1st time mums making scrapbooks on their newly-borns; and couples keeping memories of their dates and holiday trips in the form of scrapbooking for their loved ones.

Just a note of caution; scrapbooking is an extremely addictive activity, and you really need to damage some 'brainjuice' for conjuring a nice layout. Most importantly, it's expensive! Unless you are making more than 1 pages for your scrapbook so you can buy the materials for more quantities and spread out the cost for each page. For e.g, a box of assorted ribbons cost approximately 7 bucks whilst a box of buttons about 10 bucks. Imagine I had to spend about 20 bucks for the frame!

As I am not a creative person by nature, I had to do some research on my own and got some ideas to complete my scrapbook frame. First and foremost, I had to make sure I complete my 2 cats cross-stitch just in time for assembly! In fact, it took me a year + to finish the cross-stitch as I had been continuing and halting my mini project during this while. I decided to throw in a photo of us during convocation and did some hand-make cutting and pasting works.

However, I made a mistake with the framing, cos I forgot to take into account the width and length of the frame, and the sides of my 'masterpiece' was obstructed! You would need to peek through the sides of the frame to have a better view of the entire scrapbooking image. Sigh, otherwise everything would have been perfect! Blame it on my carelessness.

Fortunately, Wei Siang loved my artwork! He thought it was beautiful! Now, it's sitting proudly on the TV console, and goes well with the furniture as it's black! Now, I am inspired to come up with a scrapbook on my honeymoon trip to Taiwan! Hope I have the patience to complete it. (Footnote: It took me 4 hours to complete the scrapbook framing!)
