How I celebrated the start of the New Year - Painting my Room PDF Print E-mail

Right now, my body is aching all over from the 'painful' workout yesterday evening till the wee hours of the morning.

I could only say that Wei Siang and I had celebrated the New Year on a different note. Rather than jostling with the crowd to watch fireworks, we decided to spend the time painting Wei Siang's room (rather, ours, starting 3 May 2008). Earlier, my future mother-in-law had personally supervised the changes in the air con unit and compressor for the home. As there were several changes in the air-con ducting for his room, we decided to paint the room concurrently, then claen up the place at one go.

It was a challenging project to start with; as there were too many bulky furnitures in his room obstructing the available space for moving around, we had to re-arrange the furnitures and wrap them with newspapers. This is to prevent dirtying them when we commence the painting of the ceiling. We started at 5 p.m. and I was confident that we could finish by 12, just right for the countdown. =P

7 p.m. - We were still wrapping the furnitures!! By then, I was too exhausted to commence the actual painting works.. never knew that this would take soooo long! Decided to take a break from the mundane chores and have breakfast while we strategize our next move.

9 p.m. - Started painting the window portion - just realized I need to spend more time refining the corners. Regretted choosing the portion to start off, should have left this to Wei Siang. Fortunately, the family maid Nina offered to help us with another wall, else I won't know what time we could finish!

11 p.m. - Snapped this while Wei Siang was painting the ceiling - see the brush??

12 a.m. - Countdown to Happy 2008! By then, Wei Siang and I had completed 3 sides and were left with the wall with TV console. We had to enlist the help of his dad to help with the shifting as it was simply too heavy. My eyelids were drooping from exhaustion, but our desire to complete the task remains firm.

4 a.m. - After completing the painting works, we re-aligned the furnitures and spent the remaining 1 hours cleaning up the room. Though by now, we were already bushed from the manual labour, we were spirited to see the room nextly coated with fresh new paint! Now that the room is complete, we will be sourcing for a new TV console and display cabinets as new furniture additions. Really enjoyed ourselves yesterday. I am keeping my fingers crossed that the aching will subside tomorrow, hee hee.
