Been a busy weekend for me and Wei Siang. We spent both days shopping for nice furnitures for our bedroom. Apart from the study table purchase from IKEA 2 months ago, we haven been shopping for our room till yesterday when we realized that we are only 4 months away from our actual day. We had to sacrifice our well-deserved weekend and start sourcing for our ideal bedroom set. We did some research through the internet and shortlisted 2 venues, Defu furniture of Tradehub 21 and The Furniture Mall at the Beach Road. After checking out a whole row of furniture shops at JE's Tradehub 21, we were not very satisfied with the array of furnitures, reasons being that the furnitures were more or less similar to the ones which we saw at Nova, V Hive, etc. Seems like they carried their cargos from the same distributor. I guess I wanted something different from the usual wares, so we decided to try our luck at the Furniture Mall. And we didn't regret our decision afterall. After checking out > 10 shops in the building, we found a beautiful bed at a furniture shop on the ground floor. It looked like a platform bed, but in fact the wooden 'platform' surrounding the bed served as storage cabinets. One of the additional features which Wei Siang loved was the side tables; you can actually convert it to a lap-top table and work from the bed! Overall, we liked the bed set-up as it's aesthetically pleasing yet double up as a storage facility. On the other hand, we took fancy in their wardrobe with its frosted black glass and in-built mirror. Needless to say, we bought both furnitures! Fortunately, the shop owner threw in free bolsters, pillows when we added in the purchase of the mattress. In the meantime, I brought my mother and nephew with back to the furniture shop this afternoon where we added a fabric sofa and coffee table in our purchase. But the sofa and coffee table will be placed in my parents home, not mine la, haha. You see, I agreed to sponsor 50% of the sofa set as new year gifts for my parents hee hee, so had to bring my mum along so that she could decide the sofa's fabric colour. I must take the opportunity to thank my future mother-in-law for facilitating the removal of the old TV console from Wei Siang's room. Apparently, she was concerned upon hearing that there might be limited walking space with the addition of the new bed, hence she decided to take in the console, and release some space in the kitchen for keeping the older cabinets. Which means all the furnitures in my future bedroom will be brand new! Really grateful for her thoughtfulness as despite her injury, she was still planning for our wedding! This means I will only need additional purchase for the curtains, bedsheets and a new TV console. Yippee! ~ Will be painting our room this new year eve + new year's day... I can't wait to see how our room will turn out to be with the new paint and furniture additions!
