Our Honeymoon - To Taiwan!!!!

Aiyah, Really feel bad to talk about my honeymoon, esp. in front of my hubby. It's not because I didn't enjoy the 9 day trip, but the moment I recall about the wonderful experience, I will feel very bad cos WS had done a great job in planning for the holiday! As it's a free and easy travel trip, my hubby spent a long time researching and coming up with the itinerary... and I have practically done nothing but whine on why we can't go to faraway destinations instead (e.g. Swizerland, New Zealand etc etc.) In fact, the trip was planned during the midst of our wedding preparation! During those times when I was panicking about my figure, mani and pedi, fretting over my hairdo for the big day, he would spend nights working on planning the trip logistics, making hotels reservations etc. He really deserved a great peck on the cheek for the wonderful honeymoon... Muakz Laogong! I love You! As planned, we embarked on our trip to Taiwan 2 days after our AD Wedding... I was still in the midst of recovering from the fatigue due to the months of wedding preparation, so was feeling grumpy throughout the journey to Taipei International Airport. Worse still, the travel agent had arranged for us to check in at a old and run-down hotel near the suburban area of Taipei City. Imagine I had stay in there for 3 nights before we could move on to Kaohsiung?!?! It was supposed to be our honeymoon! Wei Siang had to bear with my incessant grumbling for the next 48 hours ++. It didn't turn out to be as frustrating as I had imagined, as we spent most of the day outdoors rather than cooping inside the sad hotel room. a) Taipei (Day 1 - 4) The weather condition in Taipei were terrible during the 1st 2 days! It practically rained cats and dogs non-stop, and I didn't prepare a sweater for the journey cos I thought it was summer time! HAHA! On our 1st night, we checked out this Coca-cola theme restaurant in 'Ximen Ding', and I was shocked by the size of the Ice-cream float! Of course, I couldn't finish it though I was well-known for my huge appetite. =) On the 2nd day of our trip, we joined the 1 day city Taipei trip organized by the Tour Agent (cos we signed up for the 4 day 3 night Free and Easy tour in Taipei and the day trip was included in the package). Besides checking out Taipei's museum, City spring and pastry shops, I didn't really enjoy the rest cos the Agent brought us to those shops where the sales folks would try to sweet-talk us into buying the amulets or royal jellies, haha. And the spring resort which we visited were terrible! Not like those beautiful spring resorts which I came across in those Taipei promotional phamplets. Sigh. On the last day of our Taipei stop, I decided to indulge ourselves and checked in at the Caesar Park Hotel located directly opposite the Taipei rail station. Though I spent S$200 a night for the 5-star hotel, it was totally worth it cos they referred us to the Executive suite, and the room was REAL HUGE!! HAHAHAHA! So happy. =) On our own, we checked out places of interest such as Taipei Arena, Taipei 101 Building, night market, temples and their huge shopping centres! Definitely more enjoyable than travelling with the tour group, cos we made full use of their transportation system! And I feel their MRT's more efficient as compared to Singapore, cos we only had to wait for only 2-3 min for the train to arrive. 2) Day 4 - 7 We took their speed rail train from Taipei to Kaohsiung, the southern most state of Taiwan, and I was truly amazed by the rail system! Imagine we only needed 1 and 3/4 hour to travel from north to south, at a speed of 300 km/hr! It would have taken us up to a day to travel by normal rail. Haha, the train was real comfortable, and we were able to capture alot of nice pictures along the way. We checked into a nice hotel in Kaohsiung, and was very touched by the hotel's hospitality. Imagine the hotel sending me a birthday cake and card on my birthday! So sweet! Well, we spent the next day exploring an island called 'Qijin' and cycled non-stop for 4 hours in order to visit the well-acclaimed wind-mill park! Never cycled that long in my whole life (except the 1 hour East Coast cycling trip). c) Day 7-9 On the last phase of our Taiwan trip, we stayed in a beautiful home resort in 'Ri Yue Tan', well-acclaimed for its beautiful skyscape and crystal clear blue lake. Most interestingly, we participated in the Fire-fly tour and I had the chance to see for myself how fireflies look like! The scenery was ravishing!!! Well, I can't go on rambling non-stop on my honeymoon experience, so will post them in 'our gallery' for your viewing ok?!?! Cannot wait to go on my next holiday with Hubby (*Hint*) Muahahahaha!

A Big Thank You to All of You!

Alright. After slogging hard to prepare for my wedding since end Dec 2006, I am finally Mrs Chan on 3 May 2008. Was a tiring yet memorable day for me and my hubby. Enjoyed every part of the wedding preparation process except for the fact that I have failed terribly in updating my wedding blog! To make sure that I remember the 'efforts' that we have put in for our wedding and to let others learn from our silly mistakes during our wedding preparation, I have decided to insert entries for the following events leading to our actual day: Our 'Guo-da Li' on 19 April 08;Preparing my Sisters' Flowers BouquetsMoments after my Wedding DinnerOur Honeymoon! many more entries if I can still recall.... Oh yes, I must thank all of you for taking time off to visit my wedding blog (Guest 7579, Aihua, Benny and Sze, Winnie and many more)... so sorry for not responding to your well wishes earlier as I was still in the midst of trying to accustomize to my married life and a new environment with my hubby. Thanks sooo much! ~

Our Food-tasting Session on Monday, 17 March

After several months of anticipation, our families finally met up for a food tasting session at Marina Mandarin on Monday! Wei Siang and I had been feeling jittery days before the dinner date, for the fact that his parents' have yet to meet up with my parents for a formal dinner session since we started dating 10 years ago! When we started dating, I was only 17! Furthermore, my parents weren't very happy with us way back then, as we were supposed to schooling rather than going into a boy-girl relationship! Hee hee! I was still feeling worried that our parents may not click well with one another; as it was afterall, their 1st meeting. I guess my fear was unfounded for, as they were happily conversing with one another even before the 1st dish was served! Subsequently, my future mother-in-law brought up the topic on the bride-price to my parents. I was touched when my dad commented that the bride-price didn't matter to him; so long as I have found someone who could take care for me for life! Afterall, I am my daddy's precious girl! Oh no, I think I am going to miss my parents dearly after my wedding! Sigh. During the dinner session, our wedding coordinator Wendy passed us some wedding favour samples for our guests on our wedding day. There were 2 new wedding favours to choose from; which were a glass coaster and silver coloured picture frame. We were undecided on the choice of wedding favour, as the glass coaster looked plain and didn't seem attractive to us at first sight. Moreover, the sharp edges of the square coaster might accidentally cut young guests if mishandled. We didn't really like the metal picture frame too. We also gave up the choice of giving edible wedding favours to guests i.e. pineapple tarts and heart-shaped chocolates.. Overall, we were very pleased with our wedding menu, and were satisfied with the food course. One special mention was the sharks fin, as it came along with a lot of fish maw and scallops! Slurp! Another food item was the smoked tea duck which was highly complimented by our parents. =) However, there were mixed opinions on the choice of deserts, as my parents preferred the yam with Ginko Nuts rather than our initial choice of mango sago with ice-cream. We are still in the process of confirming the dessert menu with the Hotel.... so I will keep the final choice confidential for the time being! =)
